Broken or leaking
Cracked bodies, damaged risers and leaks around the base can waste water and reduce pressure available to the rest of the zone.
Buried or tilted
Settling, turf growth or impact can leave a head too low or off-angle, creating dry spots or overspray without an obvious break.
Wrong pattern
A head can function mechanically and still water the wrong area. Arc, nozzle type and spacing all affect coverage.
Collect the clues while the system runs.
- Which zone contains the problem head?
- Does the head pop up fully when the zone runs?
- Is water leaking around the body or fitting?
- Is the spray hitting pavement, fence or another non-landscape area?
- Did the problem start after mowing, digging, edging or construction?
- Are nearby heads also weak, suggesting a zone-wide pressure issue?
The visible symptom and the failed component are not always the same thing.
Local symptom
One bad head or one wet spot may truly be local — but weak pressure, wiring faults or valve problems can create symptoms elsewhere in the zone.
System symptom
If several heads are weak, multiple zones act strangely, or the controller behaves inconsistently, ask for diagnosis before authorizing a string of unrelated part replacements.
