Soft washing is not just “pressure washing turned down.”
The point is to reduce mechanical force and let an appropriate cleaning treatment do more of the work. That can matter on painted surfaces, siding, stucco-like finishes, soffits, trim and areas where high pressure could force water into gaps or damage a finish.
Where it may fit
Organic staining, algae or mildew on compatible exterior surfaces may respond better to a lower-pressure treatment process than aggressive blasting.
Where questions matter
Oxidized paint, damaged caulk, loose siding, delicate landscaping, unknown coatings and drainage near the work area deserve extra discussion before treatment.
The cleaning solution is part of the job.
Surface compatibility

Dwell & rinse
Cleaning agents need controlled contact time and thorough rinsing. More chemical or longer dwell is not automatically better.

Worth knowing: soft washing can remove compatible surface buildup, but it does not repair failed paint, cracked caulk, damaged siding, deteriorated mortar, or permanent discoloration. Those conditions should be identified before cleaning so the homeowner knows what improvement is realistic.
